Someone recently posted that they checked their oil level cold, versus hot, and made sure it was at the top of the window, versus the upper line. This morning, in a completely non-scientific experiment, I came up with the following conclusion.
It's the same!
I am running 20-50 Suzuki motorcycle oil. When cold, the oil was right at the top of the window. I fired 'er up, let run for 4 minutes, stopped the engine, let it sit for 1 minute, then checked the level again. It was right at the top line.
So my conclusion is that you can do it either way, but that Suzuki probably recommends the 4 minute/1 minute thing so that you give your bike a chance to warm up.....
For my next experiment, I'm going to get a $50,000 grant from the government to conduct a study on why Suzuki mechanics suck.....
